Until 2012 Chateau Capbern was owned by the Gasqueton family, owners of the 3rd classed growth Ch. Calon Segur for 10 generations. In 2012 after the death of Madame Denise Gasqueton Ch. Capbern and the Calon Segur estate was sold to a negociant with a large stake being purchased by the owner of Petrus. In 2014 they hired Laurent Dufau to manage the Estate who together with winemaker Vincent Millet and oenologist Eric Boissenot are now considered to be producing the best wines in the history of the estate. The 38ha estate is planted 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot & 1% Petit Verdot.

Tasting Notes:

A medium bodied, intense and expressive wine with dark red berry and floral aromas. Beautifully balanced with well structured tannins and a savoury complex finish, drink now but has cellar potential for years to come.

Serving Suggestion

This wine pairs superbly with beef & venison, Asian food, hearty fish dishes, mushroom pastas and hard cheeses.
